New federal regulations will require a 30% "truth content" for Canadian news outlets. It will be a stretch to fill the gap. The current truth content is about 10%. Newspapers and broadcast media are scratching their heads about how to accomodate the new rules. The current method of writing a catchy headline for newspaper, or clever wordplay for broadcast media and then creating a story to fit it will likely have to be scrapped. The new rules do not apply to social media. via
